Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Co. takes great pride in being an active contributor to our communities.  Neighbour helping neighbour is one of the founding values of Bay of Quinte Mutual when it was formed in 1874.  Our donations focus on supporting charities and projects valued by our policyholders.

Agriculture is at the core of mutual insurance and the reason Bay of Quinte Mutual was formed and today that industry continues to be important to our company.  Unfortunately, the agriculture industry in British Columbia suffered devastating losses due to a flood in November 2021.  Chair Harry Scanlan expressed his concern and asked the Board to help our western friends.  The Board shared Harry’s concern and decided it was important Bay of Quinte Mutual contribute in a positive and significant manner to help the farming community in British Columbia.  A donation of $100,000 to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund was approved by the Board.

Donations to Farm Town Park in Stirling, 4 H and a significant contribution to sponsor mental health programs for farmers were among other donations made in honour of our agricultural roots.

Supporting efforts to improve fire fighting service has been a long standing focus of donations.  In 2021, $30,000 was donated to Madoc Township to help the community’s fundraising for the construction of a new fire hall in Eldorado.  Unmeasurable benefits will result due to improved and updated fire protection in that municipality.  Hills of Hope is an organization in Northumberland County we supported this year that raised money to provide equipment to first responders by walking the Woodbine Race Track for 24 hours wearing full firefighter bunker gear.

Our Community Support Committee selected a number of local organizations to receive funding.  O’Hara Mill in Madoc Township, Hospice Prince Edward, Butterfly Run Quinte, the Campbellford Memorial Hospital, The Umbrella Project, Almost Home and Keep Kids Warm were among the organizations supported by the Committee.
